Dear Guest,
Tashi Delek !
The Himalayas intrigues and excites adventurers the world over. Its sheer mention brings images of peaks soaring above the clouds to mind, a magnificent wall and an integral part of our natural world. It boasts the planet's highest peaks, and has consequently given birth to many giants of the adventure world. Ancient scriptures describe the Himalayas as the King of Rocks. Indeed, the mountains that make this range are gods to the local communities, paradise to nature-lovers, and a vital source of data to the scientists and researchers.
It was when I stood on the summit of Thamserku, a mountain in the Himalayas at an elevation of 6,623 meters, in 1988, that I decided on the name for our company, one that would help people appreciate this part of the world. After over 500 major expeditions amongst others, we believe we’ve come close to doing what we had set out to do. So it gives us, the Thamsrku family, great pride and pleasure to extend our warmest greetings and invite you to share the wonders of the Himalaya.
Few adventures, if any, match that of exploring this mountain range. And you can count on us to ensure your adventure here is all that you had hoped it to be, and more. Our friendly veteran staff take great effort and pride in making sure that the tours are not only picture perfect but also insightful on the region.
Our track record of consistent quality control and great service has also earned us many accolades and recognitions over the years. Amongst 400 adventures companies in Nepal, the Nepali government has awarded us as the First Prize as a leading adventure company for ever year between 1995 and 2006. More importantly, guests who go back home with a sense of satisfaction, and guests who come back to us more than once tells us that we must be doing something right.
However, while contributing to the development of mountain adventure in Nepal issues of environmental protection has been a major concern for Thamserku for quite sometime now. We have also participated in several community development projects over the years: establishing health clinics in rural areas for the underprivileged, initiating electricity projects, developing water and sanitation projects and paying particular attention of and care to the trekking porter's shelter huts on the trails above 4000m.
These are traditions we have practiced over the years and we have every intention of continuing to walk down this same path. And in that spirit Thamserku welcomes you to the hospitality of the Sherpas, ‘the guardian of the Himalayas.’
We look forward to sharing memorable adventurous in the days ahead.
Best Regards,
Sonam Sherpa
