Pakistan is hub of the world s greatest mountain chains, the Karakorum the Himalayas and Hindu Kush and about five longest glaciers of the world are in Pakistan covering more than 1500 square km. Pakistan boasts of the most concentration of the high mountains in the world,82 peaks over 7000 meters (23,000ft.) within a radius of 180 Km.

The five out of worlds fourteen 8000 meter peaks are in Pakistan. Out of 100 highest peaks in the world about 50 peaks are in Pakistan. Beside that there are countless peaks over 3000 to 6000 meters and mostly unclimbed and virgin. K2(8611m) worlds second highest mountain is situated in the extreme north of Pakistan bordering with China.
